Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a prominent player in the foodservice distribution industry, catering to some of America's most well-known national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. With a comprehensive service footprint covering the United States and extending to more than 40 countries internationally, PFG Customized Distribution stands out by offering tailored attention to their clients, providing a centralized contact for product lines, menu adjustments, and account coordination. The company is an integral part of the broader food supply chain, ensuring that top-quality food products are delivered efficiently and reliably to meet the dynamic needs of the foodservice industry.
As part of its commitment to excellence and inclusivity, Performance Food Group and its subsidiaries maintain a strong focus on equal employment opportunities. They uphold policies that prohibit discrimination based on race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, and other protected characteristics, creating a safe and inclusive work environment for all employees and applicants.
The role of CDL-A Driver at PFG Customized Distribution is a vital one, characterized by significant responsibilities related to the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of food and related products. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, shuttle services, overnight trips, and drive-and-drop routes. The position requires a precise adherence to Department of Transportation regulations, company safety policies, and the ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues. CDL-A Drivers are not only responsible for the physical transportation of goods but also serve as the face of the company, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
In addition to competitive compensation—with a weekly salary starting at $1,400, an annual salary range between $73,000 and $85,000, and a $3,500 sign-on bonus—the company offers flexible scheduling, an attractive package of health and wellness benefits effective from day one, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. This role provides significant growth opportunities within a sector crucial to supporting America’s food distribution system. CDL-A Drivers perform essential safety inspections before and after trips, handle loading and unloading operations, ensure that freight is secured and accurately documented, manage cash and checks where applicable, and complete all necessary regulatory paperwork and digital logs.
The position calls for individuals who not only have the technical skills required to operate large vehicles but also possess strong communication skills, reliability, and the physical capability to handle freight varying widely in weight. The role is well suited for diligent professionals who value an inclusive and respectful work culture and are looking for a stable career with a reputable foodservice distributor. PFG Customized Distribution’s commitment to a culture of respect, recognition, and safe working environments underpins the quality of service they provide to their extensive client base, making this an excellent employment opportunity for qualified commercial drivers.
