The position of Driver, Hourly CDL-A at Core-Mark is vital, directly contributing to the efficiency and reliability of the country’s food supply chain. Drivers are tasked with operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes such as intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight shifts. This role involves ensuring that food and food-related products are transported and delivered promptly, safely, and in excellent condition to our customers. Drivers act as the face of the company, building and maintaining strong, professional relationships with customers through reliable service and clear communication.

The role requires drivers to perform mandatory safety inspections on their vehicles before and after trips, adhering to DOT and company safety guidelines. They must report any safety issues or hazards immediately and are responsible for ensuring freight is properly loaded, secured, and delivered according to schedule. Other responsibilities include completing accurate records and paperwork, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight, managing customer returns and damaged goods, and performing housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and security of equipment and work areas.

Core-Mark offers a competitive compensation package for this role, with component pay up to $3,600 bi-weekly, monthly and annual bonuses, and a four-day workweek starting at 5:00 AM. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 plus year of commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • 21 plus years of age
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases of varying size and weight

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
  • Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to route schedules and unload products
  • Perform damage control checks, scan items, and verify deliveries with customers
  • Load customer returns, secure trailers, and complete necessary paperwork
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and maintain cleanliness of equipment and trailers
  • Complete daily hours of service records and logs
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
