The role available is an entry-level driver trainee position focused on learning and gaining experience in safely operating tractor trailer or straight trucks. This role is vital in supporting America’s food distribution system by ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to a variety of customers. The position requires availability up to six days a week, with a 4-5 day workweek schedule, and includes an intensive five-week training program based in Temple, Texas. The driver trainee will engage in both intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) routes, shuttles, and overnight schedules. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- Valid CDL A license
- At least six months of commercial driving experience
- Must be 21 years or older
- Meet all applicable state licensing or certification requirements
- Have a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years
- Successfully pass a post offer drug test
- Successfully pass a road test
- Possess or obtain a current DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and use equipment to move product cases or freight weighing approximately 60 to 90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- Valid CDL A
- Six months commercial driving experience
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet all state licensing and or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- Pass post offer drug test
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases and freight of varying sizes and weights
Job Duties
- Attend and successfully complete entry level driver trainee or dock to driver training program
- Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
- Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor truck and trailer
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete associated paperwork
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money where required
- Ensure that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log
- Perform general housekeeping duties and secure all equipment at the end of the shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
