Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a leading distributor in the convenience retail industry, recognized for its expansive fresh and broad-line solutions. As a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has established itself as an industry leader, generating over $23 billion in revenue and serving customers across the United States and Canada through its extensive network of distribution centers. The company focuses on empowering its customers, employees, and communities by providing comprehensive products, innovative programs, and tailored solutions that meet a wide range of needs within the convenience retail market. Core-Mark operates with a strong commitment to equal employment opportunity, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees are treated with respect and fairness regardless of their background or characteristics protected by law.

The role of Driver, Hourly CDL-A at Core-Mark is a union-represented position covered by a collective bargaining agreement, which governs wages, benefits, and eligibility requirements. This position is vital to Core-Mark's food supply chain, ensuring timely and safe delivery of food and food-related products to customers. Drivers work Monday through Friday, with dispatch times typically between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM. During training, drivers receive an hourly wage of $29.00, after which compensation transitions to a structured pay-for-performance model based on stops, loads, and miles driven.

In this role, the driver operates tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including intrastate and interstate, local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight drive-and-drop routes. The driver is responsible for adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, performing crucial safety checks before and after trips, and ensuring that all freight is properly loaded, secured, and handled throughout the delivery process. Additionally, the driver engages directly with customers, vendors, and coworkers, representing Core-Mark's commitment to professional, courteous, and effective communication. Drivers also maintain accurate documentation, manage customer returns and damaged goods, and complete necessary vehicle and route records.

This multidisciplinary role demands physical capability for lifting and moving freight, use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Core-Mark offers drivers the opportunity to be integral team members within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The driver plays a key part in maintaining the reliability and reputation of Core-Mark's distribution services by ensuring that deliveries are made accurately, safely, and on schedule. The company’s commitment to its labor force is reflected through comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust, pension contributions, and options for annuity plans.

Working with Core-Mark means joining a company that values growth, responsibility, and innovation, with a strong focus on employee welfare and equal opportunity employment. The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position is ideal for individuals who are dedicated, safety-conscious, and thrive in a customer-focused environment where reliability, professionalism, and teamwork are paramount.
