The trainee will learn to operate tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight deliveries, both intrastate and interstate. The job involves delivering and unloading food and food-related products safely and efficiently while adhering to all company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.\n\nThe driver trainee supports and accompanies experienced driver trainers on deliveries, following prescribed safety checks and regulatory protocols to ensure both vehicle and freight meet safety standards. They will perform inspections, assist with loading and unloading, secure freight, and maintain proper documentation, all while providing excellent customer service and maintaining professional communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers. The role demands a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within a team. Additionally, the trainee will perform general housekeeping duties related to their vehicle and the loading dock, contributing to a clean and organized work environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Valid CDL A
  • Minimum 6 months commercial driving experience
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment for moving product cases

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) A
  • At least 6 months of commercial driving experience
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have valid current DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack product cases of varying sizes and weights

Job Duties

  • Attend and successfully complete entry level driver trainee or dock to driver training program
  • Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
  • Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer
  • Follow all Department of Transportation regulations and company safe driving policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and complete accurate paperwork
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders following predetermined route schedules
  • Unload products, verify delivery with customers, collect payments when required, and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete related paperwork
  • Complete daily record of hours of service in accordance with DOT requirements
  • Perform housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • Perform other duties as assigned
