Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, is a prominent leader in the convenience retail industry, known for delivering fresh and broad-line solutions. As a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark has established itself with a strong reputation for empowering customers, employees, and communities. With over $23 billion in revenue, Core-Mark’s extensive distribution network spans across the U.S. and Canada, offering a vast range of products, programs, and solutions. The company's commitment to excellence and growth in the fresh and foodservice delivery markets makes it a preferred employer for those seeking a dynamic career in logistics and supply chain operations.

This position is a union-represented role covered under a collective bargaining agreement, which specifies wages, benefits, and eligibility requirements to ensure fair treatment and comprehensive support for employees. Eligible employees receive a robust package of health and welfare benefits managed through the Teamsters Managed Health Care Trust. These benefits may include medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life insurance. Employees are also potentially eligible for pension benefits via the Teamsters Pension Plan, funded by employer contributions per the agreement. For employees who have other qualifying medical coverage, there is an option to participate in an annuity plan as an alternative to health coverage. All employment terms, including wages and benefits, are governed strictly by the collective bargaining agreement and Trust Fund rules, ensuring clarity and fairness.

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A role is vital within Core-Mark’s food supply chain operations. These drivers are responsible for safely and timely delivering food and foodservice products across intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. Operating tractor trailers or straight trucks, drivers maintain adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards, ensuring products arrive in good condition and on schedule. Drivers serve as the company’s visible representatives, building positive relationships with customers through professional communication and reliable service. This role involves a work schedule of Monday through Friday, with dispatch times ranging from 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM, and compensation starting at $29.00 per hour during training with transition to pay based on stops, loads, and miles driven.

A typical day includes comprehensive safety checks, loading and unloading products, delivery route management, and meticulous completion of required freight paperwork. Drivers inspect vehicles and freight for safety compliance, report issues promptly, and adhere to all DOT and company regulations. They perform damage control checks, obtain customer verifications, collect payments when necessary, and ensure trailers and cargo are secured always. The driver also handles returns and damaged goods with accuracy and attention to detail and completes daily records such as hours of service logs. General housekeeping of the tractor, loading dock, and trailers is also part of their duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment. The role demands physical capability for handling freight of varying weights, often engaging equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates.

Core-Mark values diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunity to all applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.
