Job Description

This dynamic enterprise specializes in providing comprehensive drayage and intermodal transportation services, connecting major US ports, rail ramps, and customer facilities. Their service offerings encompass chassis, containers, drayage, and logistics support for imports, exports, and domestic freight moves. The company is known for its dedication to operational excellence, safety, and reliable freight handling, making it a trusted partner in the transportation and logistics industry. At its Jacksonville terminal located at 1700 Flag St, building #4, Universal Intermodal is actively seeking skilled CDL-A Owner Operator Truck Drivers to join their team and contribute to their expanding logistics network.

This role of an Owner Operator Truck Driver based in Jacksonville, FL is designed to provide essential freight hauling services with home daily opportunities and light-touch freight assignments. The successful candidate will be contracted under flexible arrangements, earning up to $800 per day. This position offers a competitive compensation scheme that includes up to 70% of the linehaul pay, with payment cycles running weekly from Sunday to Saturday and settlements occurring the following Friday. The role emphasizes no forced dispatch, allowing drivers to maintain control over their schedules and routes. Working with Universal Intermodal means being part of a company that prioritizes consistency, safety, and customer satisfaction in the transportation sector.

In this capacity, Owner Operators will be responsible for handling light-touch freight, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and safety protocols. Drivers will operate recent model 2005 or newer tractors, supported by company-owned chassis and a 24-hour road service department for assistance. This position is ideal for those seeking a stable, consistent workload with the added benefit of home daily routes. Moreover, Universal Intermodal provides various programs and discounts, such as a plate program, insurance options, and the U-sav program that offers discounts on hotels, new car purchases, cell phones, and more. Additional benefits include free on-site parking and fuel discounts at most national truck stops, enhancing the overall value and convenience for their Owner Operators.

The firm expects drivers to maintain a clean driving record, pass physical and drug screenings, and comply with strict safety standards, including no recent DUIs or excessive moving violations. This ensures the delivery network remains dependable and secure. Working at Universal Intermodal as an Owner Operator is not just a job but a valued partnership fostering growth and professional stability within the logistics industry. Candidates must have at least six months of tractor-trailer experience within the past year and be at least 21 years old, aligning with federal regulations for commercial vehicle operation. This detailed approach ensures both driver safety and high service standards for customers across the company’s extensive route network.
