Job Description

Clayton is a leading single-family, values-driven home builder dedicated to providing attainable housing combined with sustainable practices and a commitment to creating a world-class experience for both customers and team members. As a vertically integrated home builder, Clayton is uniquely positioned to guide homebuyers through every stage of the homeownership journey, including building, selling, financing, and insuring homes. The company portfolio covers a broad array of attainable housing options, designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of customers. Clayton is recognized not only for its focus on quality and affordability but also for fostering an inclusive culture that encourages work-life balance and professional growth. The company actively recruits passionate, positive, and eager individuals and invests in their success whether they work in the office, the field, or on the construction floor.

The role advertised is that of a Class A CDL Driver – Toter Driver, which reports directly to the Terminal Manager. This is a senior-level driving position, reserved for individuals possessing a Class A Commercial Driver’s License and substantial experience driving oversized and overweight loads. The driver is responsible for safely transporting these specialized loads within the region, maintaining compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and ensuring proper, timely paperwork accompanies each shipment. The role demands high driving proficiency, attention to detail for vehicle maintenance, operational readiness of equipment, and teamwork with Driver Supervisors, Pilot Escorts, and other operational colleagues. The driver coordinates pick-ups and deliveries, collaborates on obtaining necessary permits, and supports operational efficiency by communicating route details and best practices to relevant team members. Maintaining a professional appearance and delivering exceptional customer service experiences throughout the journey and upon delivery to retail locations is another vital component of this role.

Clayton offers a competitive employment package for full-time team members, including the flexibility to tailor health, dental, and vision benefits. Employees can participate in 401K programs featuring investment options and company matching after one year of service, whether full-time or part-time. Additional perks include paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement for continued education, Employee Assistance Programs for personal and professional support, and a unique Clayton Impact program providing paid volunteer time for causes important to individual team members. A holistic approach to wellness is promoted through accessible physical, nutritional, social, financial, spiritual, and occupational resources, available either online or in person. Clayton is committed to diversity and equality, ensuring an inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on race, national origin, gender, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic. This role is housed under Clayton Connect, Business Unit B00007, and offers an exciting opportunity for experienced CDL drivers looking to join a respected company that values its people and the communities they serve.
