With a commitment to building strong relationships through a knowledgeable team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts, Performance Foodservice not only supplies delicious food but also offers valuable advice on menu development, operational strategies, and product selection. This focus on partnership helps independent restaurant owners and other customers achieve their unique goals and thrive in competitive markets. The company is known for fostering a safe, inclusive, and rewarding work environment where employee recognition, respect, and growth opportunities are prioritized.
The role of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is an essential position within the company’s food supply chain operations. Drivers play a critical role in ensuring that customers receive their orders accurately, on time, and in excellent condition, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and the company's reputation. This position offers local and home daily routes from Monday through Saturday, with days off varying based on route assignments. The average annual pay ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, reflecting competitive compensation aligned with the importance of this work.
As a delivery driver, you will be responsible for operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Your duties will include transporting and unloading food and related products safely and efficiently while following all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. You will serve as a professional ambassador for Performance Foodservice, building lasting customer relationships through excellent communication and service. This role also involves performing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, handling customer payments when required, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
This position prioritizes safety, professionalism, and teamwork. Drivers must be attentive to detail to ensure freight is properly loaded and secured, damaged goods are handled appropriately, and all paperwork is legible and complete. The company values employees who take initiative, contribute to a culture of safety, and demonstrate respect for customers and colleagues alike. Additional employee benefits include day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and ongoing growth opportunities within the company.
Performance Foodservice is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. This role requires a valid CDL-A license, a clean motor vehicle record, and the ability to meet all state licensing or certification requirements. Drivers must also pass drug and criminal background checks, road tests, and possess or be able to obtain a current DOT Health Card. The physical demands of the role include the ability to lift and move products typically weighing between 10 and 90 pounds and the use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.
If you are a professional driver dedicated to delivering excellent service and playing a vital role in the nation's food distribution system, this opportunity with Performance Foodservice provides a stable career with strong benefits and the chance to grow within a respected industry leader.
