Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline foodservice distributor renowned for its dedication to supporting foodservice operators across the United States. With a rich legacy of serving a diverse customer base including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries, Performance Foodservice stands out by offering not only high-quality food products but also expert advice and personalized services. Their team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other specialists work collaboratively to build strong, lasting relationships with customers, helping improve operational efficiency, menu development, and product selection. The company’s mission extends beyond food distribution — it aims to empower independent restaurant owners and other clients to realize their business dreams through tailored solutions and exceptional customer care.

As a driver for Performance Foodservice, you play an essential role within the company’s supply chain and community impact. This position involves safely and timely delivery of food products, operating either tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including local/home daily routes, shuttle runs, overnight, and over-the-road (OTR) trips. With an average annual pay ranging from $70,000 to $90,000, this role provides competitive compensation along with comprehensive benefits designed to support your health, financial well-being, and career development from day one. The working schedule is typically Monday through Saturday with days off depending on route assignments, emphasizing a reliable routine while acknowledging the operational demands of food delivery.

Beyond the essential duties of driving and delivery, this role presents opportunities for professional growth and involvement in an inclusive, safety-focused workplace culture that values respect, recognition, and employee contribution. Drivers are not only responsible for ensuring the secure transport of products but also act as ambassadors of the brand, interacting professionally with customers and vendors to foster trust and satisfaction. From conducting pre-and post-trip safety inspections to managing accurate delivery documentation, the driver ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. Being a team player is crucial, as drivers also assist with loading and unloading goods, verifying orders, and maintaining cleanliness and safety of vehicles and equipment.

This position requires a valid CDL-A license, at least 12 months of commercial driving experience, and adherence to all relevant licensing and certification requirements. Candidates must be at least 21 years old and possess a clean motor vehicle report for the past three years. Passing a post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and a road test are mandatory for employment. Physical capability is also important, as the role often involves manually handling product cases weighing up to 60-90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates.

By joining Performance Foodservice as a delivery driver, you become part of a reputable organization that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities without discrimination. You contribute directly to the essential mission of supporting America’s food distribution system while building a promising career path backed by a supportive team environment and a comprehensive benefits package. This role not only offers financial rewards but also the pride of playing a pivotal part in the nourishment and success of communities nationwide.
