Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), serves as a leading broadline distributor specializing in delivering high-quality food and food-related products to a diverse range of local customers. These customers include independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company prides itself on building strong relationships with clients through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other foodservice experts. This team not only delivers products but also provides valuable advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic operational solutions to help clients achieve their business goals. Through these efforts, Performance Foodservice supports the dreams of independent business owners while maintaining a reputation for reliability, quality, and innovation in food distribution.

Beyond just transportation, drivers act as the face of the company, forging enduring relationships with customers through professionalism and excellent service. This position offers an average annual earning of $100,000 based on the company's component pay program. Additionally, there is a $12,000 sign-on bonus available subject to terms, with the exclusion of those who have worked for a PFG-owned company within the last six months. Drivers benefit from two weekly layovers with hotel accommodations and food stipends provided.

As part of a safe and inclusive work culture that values rewards, recognition, and respect, drivers enjoy growth opportunities while performing vital work that supports America's food distribution system. The job involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight driving, often involving drive-and-drop delivery methods.

Key responsibilities include ensuring safety and compliance with DOT standards by conducting pre and post-trip inspections, maintaining the tractor, trailer, and freight security, and accurately managing delivery documentation. Drivers are expected to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers, unloading and placing products in designated storage areas, managing product returns, and performing damage control on shipments as needed. The role demands physical capability to handle lifting and moving products ranging from 10 to as much as 90 pounds, requiring use of equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates. Drivers also complete daily hours of service records and other administrative duties.
