Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline distributor that plays an integral role in the foodservice industry, supporting a diverse range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company emphasizes building strong relationships with its customers through dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who provide tailored advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection, and business strategies. This customer-centric approach positions Performance Foodservice not just as a food provider but as a key partner in helping independent restaurant owners and other clients achieve their culinary and business goals. The company is committed to delivering exceptional service and high-quality products, fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and safety within the workplace.

The Driver Trainee position at Performance Foodservice is an entry-level role focused on training new drivers in the critical task of food and food service delivery—a backbone of the nation’s food supply chain. This role is vital as it ensures that customer orders are delivered punctually and in excellent condition, reinforcing the company’s reputation and customer satisfaction. As a Driver Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience operating tractor trailers, learning industry best practices, and assisting experienced driver trainers on scheduled deliveries and routes. The position includes early morning dispatch from Rogers, MN, and offers a structured training period with a competitive hourly rate of $28 during the initial 90 days, after which trained drivers average an impressive $100,000 per year through a component pay program.

Additionally, there is a $5,000 sign-on bonus subject to terms and conditions, providing a strong incentive for new hires. Performance Foodservice values growth and development, offering numerous benefits starting from day one, such as health and wellness benefits, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. This role also promotes a safe and inclusive working environment that values rewards, recognition, and respect among its team members.

In this position, you will be responsible for learning and applying compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations through safety inspections, documentation, and adherence to safe driving practices. You will develop skills in customer communication and service, receiving and unloading deliveries, managing inventory and paperwork, and generally maintaining the cleanliness and order of your equipment and work area. The company offers on-the-job training programs to ensure you are fully equipped for success and an understanding of the essential safety and operational standards in logistics.

Overall, the Driver Trainee role at Performance Foodservice offers a promising career path in the food distribution industry with opportunities for professional growth, competitive compensation, and a supportive company culture.
