Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor owned by Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a vital role in America's food supply chain by delivering essential food products to a wide variety of customers. This includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company stands out by fostering close relationships with clients through a dedicated team comprising sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts who assist customers not only with delivering high-quality food but also by offering professional advice on operations, menu development, product selection, and overall business strategies. Performance Foodservice's approach is centered around not just food delivery but supporting independent restaurant owners to succeed and achieve their dreams. PFG values an inclusive workplace culture and provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or other protected characteristics, ensuring a respectful and supportive work environment for everyone.
This position is for an Early Morning Delivery Driver based in Motley, MN, with a 4-day workweek schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). The role offers a competitive pay structure starting at $34 per hour during training, with trained drivers earning an average of $100,000 per year through a component pay program. There is also a $12,000 sign-on bonus available under specific terms, excluding individuals who have worked for a PFG-owned company in the past six months. Employees benefit from Day 1 Health and Wellness Benefits, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.
The food and food service delivery driver position is essential for maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain. Drivers are responsible for safely operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Responsibilities include delivering and unloading food and related products at customer locations reliably and on time, while adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. This role demands a high level of professionalism as drivers serve as the face of the company, interacting directly with customers, vendors, and co-workers to foster strong, lasting relationships.
Key responsibilities include conducting thorough safety inspections of trucks and trailers before and after trips, reporting any safety issues promptly, verifying product counts and invoices, and accurately completing all required delivery documentation. Drivers must also handle secure loading and unloading of products, including any damaged goods or customer returns, and ensure all equipment and freight are properly secured. Additional tasks include maintaining cleanliness and organization of trailers and loading dock areas, recording hours of service according to federal and state regulations, and adhering to all company assignments diligently.
This role requires at least 12 months of commercial driving experience, a valid CDL A license, and compliance with state licensing and certification standards. Drivers must be at least 21 years old, possess a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years, and pass post-offer drug testing, background checks, and road tests. A valid DOT Health Card is mandatory, or the ability to secure one is required. Physical demands include the ability to hand-lift weights ranging from 10 to 35 pounds and sometimes up to 90 pounds, using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to move and stack products throughout the shift.
Performance Foodservice fosters a culture of safety, respect, and teamwork while offering growth opportunities in an essential industry. The company supports professional development and offers a supportive, inclusive environment that recognizes and rewards employee contributions. This position is a unique opportunity to join a leading food distributor with a strong commitment to its workforce and customers alike.
