Job Description
Core-Mark, a subsidiary of Performance Food Group and a Fortune 150 company, is a leading distributor specializing in fresh and broad-line solutions for the convenience retail industry. With over $23 billion in revenue, Core-Mark has established a strong reputation for empowering customers, employees, and communities across the U.S. and Canada through its extensive distribution network. The company offers a comprehensive range of products, programs, and solutions designed to meet the diverse needs of its customers, supporting the food service and retail sectors with reliable and timely deliveries.
This particular job opportunity is for Core-Mark Truck Drivers located in Salt Lake City. It is a full-time position that offers a competitive hourly wage of $30.50 plus a $5,000 sign-on bonus, subject to terms and conditions discussed during the interview. A unique aspect of this role is the generous vacation allowance, providing drivers with seven weeks off per year, which includes receiving an entire 8th week for rest on rotational scheduling. Drivers will be compensated for miles driven, stops made, and unloading efforts, with average earnings around $80,000 annually and the potential to reach $100,000 for top performers.
The working hours are divided into day shift routes dispatching between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM and night shifts dispatching between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. This schedule offers variety and flexibility in shift timing. Core-Mark places great emphasis on safety, respect, and a culture of rewards and recognition within its inclusive work environment. The company supports employees with day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, further enhancing the overall compensation package.
The role of a Core-Mark Truck Driver is critical to the company’s supply chain operations. These drivers deliver food and food-related products safely and on time to various customers, acting as the company’s public face. Drivers operate either tractor-trailers or straight trucks on local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. Responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring freight is secured, unloading products, making deliveries according to schedules, and interacting professionally with customers, co-workers, and vendors.
Drivers play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the food distribution process by conducting damage checks, scanning products, handling customer returns, and securing trailers effectively. They ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations, maintain clean and safe work areas, and complete daily hours of service logs. The job requires physical strength and the ability to use equipment such as hand trucks and lift gates to manage freight weighing between 10 to 90 pounds depending on location.
