This role demands a high level of operational skill, including hooking and unhooking trailers, freight handling using motorized and manual equipment—such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks—and securing freight with pallets, straps, and ropes. Additionally, the driver is tasked with verifying documentation, complying with hazardous material regulations, and, when necessary, managing cash or check collections for freight charges with proper documentation. Effective communication is crucial, both with dispatchers and customers, to coordinate pickup or delivery requirements and to solicit additional business opportunities.

FedEx Freight’s Commercial Drivers are expected to demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service and to contribute to the company’s sales efforts by interacting with customers in a professional manner and providing sales leads. Flexibility is a must, as drivers may perform other related duties, including chaining vehicle tires or supporting dock operations during peak times. Compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies, is mandatory. Furthermore, this position offers competitive pay rates ranging from $31.93 to $36.97 per hour with mileage pay for specific linehaul duties, alongside a comprehensive benefits package.
