This full-time, in-person driving position at FedEx Freight offers a starting pay rate of $31.26 per hour and is ideal for experienced commercial drivers seeking a stable and rewarding career in the freight transport sector. The role primarily involves the pickup and delivery of freight between service centers and customers, pivotal in supporting the company’s sales process by ensuring efficient and effective logistics operations. Drivers will operate tractor-trailer combinations including doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks, contributing to the seamless movement of goods.

The job demands a high level of responsibility, including performing daily pre-trip and safety inspections to ensure vehicle and cargo safety, handling freight with appropriate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, securing freight inside trailers to prevent damage, and managing necessary documentation and reports. Drivers are expected to comply with hazardous material regulations, collect payments from customers when required, and maintain constant communication with dispatch and customers to optimize service delivery and identify new business opportunities.

Additional duties include the potential chaining of vehicle tires during adverse weather conditions and stepping in to perform the tasks of road drivers or dock employees as operational needs dictate. FedEx Freight emphasizes safety, requiring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, with a mandatory Hazardous Materials endorsement to be obtained within 120 days of employment acceptance.
