Job Description

Star of Hope is a Christ-centered, community-funded, nonprofit religious organization dedicated to serving homeless men, women, and children by offering compassionate care, support, and opportunities for transformation. With deep roots in faith and service, the mission of Star of Hope is to pursue Christ-centered transformation, restore humanity and dignity to its residents, embrace change, show love and respect, and strive for excellence. The organization operates a range of outreach programs and facilities to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the homeless community, creating a safe and nurturing environment to promote hope and renewal.

The Childcare Center at Star of Hope is a vital component of its ministry, providing care and early childhood education for children from infancy to pre-school age. The center follows strict standards established by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services - Childcare Regulation Division to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Childcare workers at Star of Hope are entrusted with the nurturing, safety, and development of children by implementing a biblical, educational, and recreational curriculum tailored to meet the cognitive, emotional, physical, and spiritual developmental needs of each child. They provide individualized care through hands-on activities, social-emotional assessments, and supportive guidance grounded in biblical principles.

This role requires a compassionate and dedicated professional who can maintain a clean, well-organized classroom and respond calmly and effectively to children's behavioral and emotional needs, including one-on-one support for challenging behaviors. Staff members are expected to uphold the organization’s values by working respectfully and professionally in a Christ-like manner and sustaining positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues. The position is suitable for individuals with an Associate's degree or equivalent experience in early childhood education, with a proven ability to foster a positive atmosphere and promote educational growth in young children. The role demands flexibility, as work schedules may include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on ministry needs.

Star of Hope provides a welcoming workplace equipped with necessary supplies and technology to support curriculum delivery and daily operations, including Microsoft Office applications. Staff are required to complete staff development hours annually and comply with all licensing and safety regulations, ensuring high quality care. This job description outlines two part-time positions available, each with 25 hours per week but varying shifts Monday through Friday, designed to accommodate multiple staffing needs within the childcare program.

Overall, this childcare worker position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a community-focused ministry, providing young children a safe, nurturing, and educational environment grounded in Christian faith and values. The role combines caregiving with faith-based instruction, requiring a proactive, empathetic, and organized individual committed to supporting the holistic development of children from diverse backgrounds.
