Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in child development, child life, or related field with a concentration in child life
- Completion of a 600-hour child life internship under supervision of a certified child life specialist
- Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire
- Ability to organize and promote patient/family focused programming
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
- Experience resolving problems using child development theory and professional child life principles
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life
- Completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist
- Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire
- General skills to resolve problems using child development theory, professional child life principles, and experience-based knowledge
- Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution
Job Duties
- Organize and promote patient/family focused programming
- Initiate and maintain connection with patients and families on a daily basis
- Create and prepare special events, milestones and celebrations
- Prepare or assist in preparing proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
- Support families visiting the Resource Room by answering questions, making appropriate referrals and providing available resources
- Serve as a member on the interdisciplinary team
- Draft written communication and promotional literature
- Interact and maintain liaison with staff, faculty and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives
