Job Description

Johns Hopkins Health System is a leading healthcare provider known for its commitment to excellence in patient care, research, and education. With a reputation for innovation and comprehensive healthcare services, Johns Hopkins continually strives to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated, and all employees are valued. The organization supports equitable healthcare delivery and workforce practices, fostering a culture where every team member contributes meaningfully to its mission of serving the community. This commitment extends across all its affiliates, promoting a drug-free workplace to maintain a safe and professional environment for both employees and patients.

The role of the Aide within Johns Hopkins Health System is vital to ensuring the efficient daily operation of the department. Working under the direct supervision of staff or a director, this position primarily focuses on maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment that adheres strictly to infection control guidelines. This includes sanitizing toys, equipment, playrooms, activity areas, and treatment spaces, which are essential in creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for patients and their families. The Aide also plays a crucial part in maintaining the inventory and condition of the department's equipment, ensuring everything is functional, up to date, and available when needed.

Further responsibilities include assisting with patient-related activities during sessions to support normalization and childhood experiences, such as transporting equipment, setting up and breaking down activity spaces, and organizing materials. This role also includes mentoring and educating students, interns, observers, volunteers, and new staff members, supporting their professional development and integration into the team. The Aide is expected to work collaboratively with coworkers, initiating problem-solving processes as needed to foster a strong team environment within the assigned center.

In addition to the operational tasks, the Aide will manage storage areas effectively by sorting and storing supplies to keep materials both available and accessible. Safety is paramount; thus, the Aide inspects games, toys, and equipment before returning them to shelves to ensure they meet safety and usability standards. The role further entails processing donations by accepting, sorting, distributing, and maintaining these contributions, ensuring they remain available for use by patients and families as directed by staff or directors. This position offers a rotating schedule with shifts from 10 am to 6:30 pm, including working one Saturday and one Sunday every four weeks, providing a dynamic and varied work schedule.

The salary range for this role spans from a minimum of $16.05 per hour to a maximum of $25.69 per hour, with compensation being commensurate with equity and experience within roles of similar scope and responsibility. Prospective candidates will undergo salary discussions during the screening process, ensuring transparency and fairness. This position presents an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about healthcare support roles who value teamwork, cleanliness, patient safety, and community service within a prestigious health system like Johns Hopkins.
