The Child Development Center located on Joint Base Charleston Airbase in South Carolina is a specialized facility dedicated to providing high-quality child and youth programs under the Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs. Job Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or transcript verifying high school graduation
- Completion of pre-employment checks including Child Care Tier 1 background investigation
- Consent to pre-employment and random drug testing
- Completion of favorable pre-employment physical
- Evidence of current immunizations including annual influenza vaccination
- Completion of assigned training including Food Handlers certification within specified time
- Real ID driver's license required for employment and base access
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service
- Direct deposit required
- Satisfactory completion of employment verification check
- Meet all qualification, eligibility, and background requirements

- Ability to work in the classroom for minimum required hours

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent proving graduation
- Experience working in childcare or youth programs
- Completion of DoD approved competency-training courses
- Possession of nationally recognized youth development credentials or related degrees for target level
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to complete required training including Food Handlers certification
- Must be at least 18 years old at time of hire
- Ability to pass background and physical checks
- Experience equivalent to CY-01 Entry Level for intermediate level applicants with AF training
- Applicants must meet Selective Service registration requirements if applicable
Job Duties
- Provide care, supervision, oversight, and accountability for children and youth
- Assist in preparing age-appropriate activities
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events
- Arrange and serve snacks and meals
- Execute work according to policies and regulations
- Transport children in government vehicles when required
- Coordinate and conduct activities for children aged 6 weeks to 18 years
- Create an environment that promotes positive interactions
- Implement program options for children with special requirements
- Brief staff, management, and parents on activities
- Conduct inventory on equipment and supplies
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and conducting activities for program participants
- Implement daily schedules and activity plans to ensure age and stage appropriateness
- Attend to the physical needs of children as applicable
