The role of Chief Pilot is pivotal in this airline’s structure, serving as a senior leader and manager within the flight operations department. The Chief Pilot oversees all aspects of flight operations, including pilot training, scheduling, aircraft maintenance compliance, and regulatory adherence. This position ensures that the airline's flights are conducted with utmost safety in line with FAA regulations and company policies. Job Duties

  • Managing and evaluating the performance of all pilots within the department including mentoring discipline and performance reviews
  • Ensuring all flights are conducted safely and in compliance with FAA regulations company policies and standard operating procedures
  • Developing and overseeing pilot training programs including initial training recurrent training and type-rating courses
  • Coordinating pilot schedules aircraft assignments and flight planning to optimize operational efficiency
  • Collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure aircraft are airworthy and properly maintained
  • Leading investigations into any aviation incidents or near misses taking corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Staying updated on all applicable aviation regulations and ensuring the department adheres to them
  • Providing regular updates to senior management on flight operations safety concerns and performance metrics
