The role of a Department Supervisor at Performance Foodservice is pivotal in maintaining smooth operations within the department, ensuring that sales and profit targets are met while delivering professional customer service. This position involves supervising technicians and associates, overseeing staffing, training, coaching, and performance management, and managing problem resolution effectively. The Department Supervisor also assists with sales efforts related to the chemical and beverage program, ensuring that customer interactions are handled professionally and all information provided is accurate and timely. Acting as both a leader and team member, the supervisor collaborates closely with customers, vendors, and internal personnel, supporting the company's mission and goals.

In addition to managing and guiding staff, the supervisor is responsible for attaining business goals through sound financial oversight, including establishing and managing departmental budgets, reviewing profit and loss margins, and controlling expenses. They oversee billing processes and solve complex sales and service problems, often requiring face-to-face interaction with customers to address specific issues on-site. They also manage schedules for service or installation, train staff on sales and service procedures, and may be involved in equipment maintenance or installation tasks related to beverage and chemical systems. This role is essential for ensuring operational excellence, fostering a positive work environment, and contributing to the overall success of the company through effective leadership, financial stewardship, and customer engagement.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in equipment and supply sales or marketing within the foodservice industry
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to supervise and manage team effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in handling budgets and financial reports
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites
  • Ability to perform equipment maintenance and installation
  • Commitment to providing professional customer service

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • 2 to 4 years of equipment and supply sales, marketing, or related experience within foodservice industry
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics or related area preferred
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in equipment and supply sales, marketing, or related area within foodservice industry preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervises associates including staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution
  • Ensure duties are performed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Approve employee hours
  • Attain targeted sales and profits
  • Establish and manage departmental budget
  • Review department's profit and loss margin
  • Control budget and expenses
  • Oversee processing of bills for payment within assigned area
  • Solve sales and service problems and deal with a variety of variables
  • Drive to customer sites to assist in correcting problems
  • Provide face-to-face customer service
  • Oversee schedules for service or installation
  • Train others in the sales and service process
  • Maintain proper functioning of beverage and chemical equipment
  • Install and test various equipment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
