Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field
- two years of sous chef-level management experience
- leadership experience in high-volume culinary operations
- effective menu execution and expediting skills
- experience in kitchen management, food and labor cost controls, and presentation
- strong communication and critical thinking skills
- supervisory experience including staff training and performance management
- proficiency in Microsoft Office
- valid Washington State Food Handler’s Card
- ServSafe certification within three months of hire
- maintenance of ServSafe certification
- valid Washington State Driver’s License to drive UW vehicles
- successful employment references and education verification
Job Qualifications

- leadership experience in high-volume restaurant, hotel, or university dining venue
- expertise in cook to order menu execution
- effective expediting skills
- knowledge in kitchen management, food and labor cost controls, plating, and presentation
- ability to train and lead staff
- strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills
- proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project)
- proficiency in performance management and giving constructive feedback
Job Duties
- Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with students
- provide outstanding customer service and ensure specialty diets and nutritional needs are met
- lead weekly culinary planning, production meetings, and tastings
- monitor performance in unit safety, cash handling, and food safety
- solicit and respond to customer feedback effectively
- manage inventory from ordering to utilization including purchasing and storage
- monitor staffing and adjust based on production needs
- ensure cleanliness and health department compliance in prep and storage areas
- identify and correct unsafe conditions
- work with student groups in planning special events
- monitor product, service, and program performance and collaborate with vendors
- contribute to business plan and budget
- review financial and production reports
- develop menus and cost recipes in collaboration with executive chef and administrators
- train staff in food preparation, production, and display
- design and implement quality control measures
- ensure attractive food presentation with appropriate labeling
- monitor performance indicators and intervene to meet goals
- implement new concepts aligned with customer needs
- stay updated on dining trends and communicate ideas
- supervise recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of staff
- support CBORD recipe input, validation, and production testing
- review system data and reports related to recipe costing and menu adjustments
- run reports for analyzing KPIs related to recipe costing and compliance
