Job Requirements
- 4-5 years of commercial kitchen experience
- Good knife skills
- Food handlers certification required for employment
- Food manager certification required before third month of employment begins
- Must be a self-starter, take initiative, punctual, and reliable
- Positive attitude, team player with an honest work ethic
- Can follow standardized recipes, scale them appropriately, weigh and measure foods
- Be able to cook scratch dishes without a recipe while executing proper cooking fundamentals and techniques
- Ability to maintain a systematic approach to organization of tasks
- Willing to learn and to teach
- Able to lift, push, and/or move up to 50lbs
- Follows all safety and sanitation procedures in accordance with guidelines from OSHA, the City of Austin, and Austin Department of Public Health
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as well as the knowledge of when to slow the pace
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Must be able to oversee the kitchen when the chef is not available

Job Duties
- Assist the chef with all daily operations associated with the kitchen
- Work closely with the chef to coordinate daily prep tasks
- Open the kitchen for the day and close the kitchen at the end of the shift
- Work closely with dishwasher and volunteers for daily prep tasks and cleaning assignments
- Foster a positive working environment
- Oversee food preparation, cooking and service while ensuring food safety and quality
- Maintain health and safety standards and ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized, utilizing in-house products and maintaining cost efficiency
- Assist the event coordinator to ensure front-of-house is ready for service and to assist as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized walk-in cooler, freezer, kitchen reach-in and storage areas
- Clean as you go and clean at the end of the day
- Must be a team player
