Clarendale of Algonquin is currently seeking a hospitality-focused Chef/Cook to join their dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in creating delicious, nutritious, and visually appealing meals for residents, their families, and guests. The Chef/Cook will work closely with fellow kitchen staff to prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week, ensuring that every meal meets high standards of quality and taste. Beyond culinary skills, the position demands a team-oriented approach and a genuine passion for serving a senior community where dietary needs and preferences are varied and important. This role offers a competitive pay range of $21.00 to $23.00 per hour based on experience, with full-time employees eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and a retirement plan with matching contributions.

  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year restaurant/senior living or equivalent cooking experience
  • Batch cooking experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare and produce food options from our menu in a manner compliant with required nutritional/dietary criteria
  • Correctly prepare meals for residents with dietary restrictions, following our policies and procedures
  • Exemplify community standards of cleanliness, sanitation and organization in the workspace and with equipment
  • Meet food quality, timeliness, appearance and presentation standards at all times
  • Interact with residents periodically to gather feedback about meal quality/temperature/appearance, and share feedback with culinary team to support continuous improvement
  • Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner with colleagues, residents, families and tours
