Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in food production and customer service
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- ability to follow instructions and work independently
- strong interpersonal and managerial skills
- proficiency in English reading, writing and speaking
- ability to handle confidential information discreetly
- physical stamina to perform kitchen duties
- availability to work full-time
- willingness to participate in ongoing training and departmental meetings
Job Qualifications
- Experience in exceptional food production and customer service
- understanding of Dining Services procedures and practices
- ability to follow oral, written and verbal instructions
- ability to function independently and make independent decisions when necessary
- must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- must be able to read recipes and menus
- organized and neat work habits
- genuine interest in seniors and willingness to work for their best interest
- personal integrity and tactfulness when dealing with residents, family members, visitors and personnel
- ability to work harmoniously with Dining Services staff and other facility personnel
- sound judgment in prioritizing tasks and responsibilities
- ability to protect confidentiality and uphold Corporate Compliance
- patience, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and willingness to handle residents at various maturity and physical levels
- adherence to professional code of ethics
Job Duties
- Preparing and serving residents' daily meals according to standardized recipes and menus
- tasting food to determine quality and palatability
- ensuring proper preparation, portioning and serving of foods
- maintaining and recording assigned temperatures daily
- directing and supervising Dining Aides when needed
- having food ready at the specified time and beginning meal service on time
- occasionally visiting residents in dining rooms to gather meal feedback
