The role of Sous Chef at Compass Group USA is a vital position within the culinary department of a facility. The Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef to oversee the successful operation of the culinary services. This includes supervising food preparation and cooking, developing daily menu items, and ensuring high quality and presentation standards. The role may involve supervision of hourly associates as well as assisting with menu development and inventory ordering. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years culinary experience or related field
- Experience supervising kitchen staff
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Willingness to engage in client satisfaction activities
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office
Job Qualifications
- A.S. degree or equivalent culinary experience
- Progressive culinary or kitchen management experience
- Catering experience preferred
- Experience in high volume, complex foodservice operations
- Knowledge of institutional and batch cooking
- Strong understanding of food trends, quality, and presentation
- Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Outlook
- ServSafe certification is highly desirable
- Ability to participate in client satisfaction programs
Job Duties
- Assist the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and expenditure monitoring
- Assist in planning and creating menus
- Produce and execute catering events
