The Chef Manager role at Lakeside Dining Hall is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals who are passionate about food and leadership. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Chef Manager will take a hands-on approach to managing all kitchen operations and culinary activities. This position involves not only the creation and management of menus but also emphasizes team development, food safety, and maintaining budgetary controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for training and managing kitchen staff, overseeing the procurement of food supplies, standardizing recipes to ensure consistent quality, and ensuring all kitchen equipment operates safely and efficiently. In addition, the Chef Manager will coordinate special catering events and play a pivotal role in executing company programs that enhance overall guest satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in related position
  • 2-3 years of post-high school education or equivalent experience
  • culinary degree preferred
  • advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices
  • experiential knowledge of people management and problem solving
  • oral, reading and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise coordinate all related culinary activities
  • Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
  • Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
  • Establish presentation technique and quality standards, and plan and price menus
  • Ensure proper equipment operation maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
  • Oversee special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and or demonstrates culinary techniques
