The company is currently seeking an energetic and optimistic Chef Manager to join their team on a full-time basis. This role operates Monday through Friday with no evenings, weekends, or holidays, making it an excellent opportunity for culinary leaders seeking a stable and balanced work schedule. The Chef Manager will earn an annual salary of $62,353.20. This role is pivotal to ensuring that food preparation and service meet AVI Foodsystems' high standards while also maintaining budgetary goals and regulatory compliance.

As Chef Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading and directing the culinary team that handles procurement, storage, preparation, and service of food. They will play a critical role in organizing kitchen workflows effectively and efficiently. The position requires experience in budget preparation and justifications to maintain financial controls over food service operations. The Chef Manager will also oversee ordering, receiving, and accounting for all food products, supplies, and equipment necessary to maintain a fully operational kitchen.

Operational excellence is a key focus of this role, which involves evaluating current food service methods and procedures, ensuring they are effective, and making improvements when necessary. The Chef Manager will interview, select, manage, and develop hourly team members, nurturing their skills and contributing to a motivated, high-performing workforce. Food safety compliance is another critical responsibility; the Chef Manager must ensure adherence to all federal, state, and other regulatory agency requirements, safeguarding the health and well-being of customers and staff.

Additionally, the Chef Manager is expected to participate actively in policy and procedure development for the food service program to align with the company’s quality standards and operational goals. This role demands strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management. The ideal candidate will have a formal culinary education and at least three years of management experience in food service, showcasing their ability to lead teams toward achieving budget and operational targets.

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize and direct the work of cooks and other team members engaged in the procurement, storage, preparation and serving of food
  • Assist in preparation of budget estimates and justifications for the food service program
  • Plan and direct the ordering, receiving and accounting of all food products, supplies and equipment for food operation
  • Evaluate existing operational methods and procedures of food service program for effectiveness and efficiency, initiating changes as necessary
  • Interview, select, manage and develop hourly team members
  • Oversee the food safety to ensure full compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agencies
  • Participate in the development and adherence of policies and procedures for the food service program
