Employees can benefit from individual coaching programs and the opportunity to contribute to local communities through the Sullivan Cares Program. This culture of care and development is designed to ensure that faculty and staff can thrive personally and professionally in their roles.
Currently, Sullivan University is seeking a full-time Chef Instructor/Chef Tournant. This role requires a dedicated culinary professional who is passionate about both cooking and education. Faculty members at Sullivan University report to their respective Dean and may have additional supervisory responsibilities with specific Department or Program Directors. The Chef Instructor is a student-centered teaching mentor responsible for implementing culinary curricula, demonstrating culinary techniques, supervising kitchen labs, and evaluating student performance. This role demands familiarity with commercial kitchen operations and the ability to translate formal culinary education into an engaging classroom experience. Physical stamina for standing for extended periods and a genuine passion for student success are essential. The ideal candidate must be willing to teach classes, work closely with individual students to refine their skills, and actively participate in the academic development of culinary students.
In the Chef Tournant role, the incumbent supports the Director of Food and Beverage Operations by managing daily responsibilities in the A la Carte Cafe area and during special events. This position requires flexibility to ensure consistent food quality, maintain workflow efficiency during busy periods or staffing shortages, and assist with food preparation, safety compliance, and overall operational performance. Work hours generally fall between 7 am and 7 pm, including some evenings and weekends as needed, offering a dynamic and hands-on culinary experience.
Sullivan University provides an exceptional benefits package including up to 90% tuition discounts for employees through the Master’s degree level and significant dependent tuition discounts. Employees enjoy comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and long- and short-term care coverage. Additional benefits include a 401K plan, competitive salary, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, paid volunteer time, employee referral bonuses, discounts at local restaurants and venues, and a comprehensive wellness program. These offerings reflect Sullivan University’s commitment to supporting the well-being and financial security of its employees.
Working at Sullivan University means joining a vibrant academic community dedicated to the success of its students and staff alike. The Chef Instructor/Chef Tournant plays a critical role in guiding aspiring culinary professionals, ensuring they receive quality education that prepares them for successful careers. Candidates for this position must demonstrate leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to engage students using collaborative and experiential learning methods. The university values ongoing professional growth and encourages faculty to stay abreast of industry trends and pedagogical advancements.
Overall, this is an exciting opportunity for professionals with culinary expertise and a passion for teaching to join Sullivan University’s team, contribute to student achievement, and be part of a supportive, growth-oriented environment.
