Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience running a kitchen in a restaurant or catering service environment
  • supervisory experience
  • New York City Health Certification
  • knowledge of menu planning and meal preparation for large groups
  • ability to work within a budget
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • effective communication skills
  • basic computer proficiency

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience running a kitchen in a restaurant or catering service environment
  • experience planning menus and purchasing groceries
  • supervisory experience
  • preferred 3+ years running a kitchen for groups of 30 or more
  • New York City Health Certification
  • demonstrated knowledge of menu planning, procurement, and meal preparation for large groups
  • ability to produce meals within an established budget
  • exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • effective communication skills
  • basic computer skills for online ordering

Job Duties

  • Run the institute's academic year lunch service
  • ensure quality control and health standards
  • project catering expenditures
  • manage all related purchases
  • communicate with ISAW's Food Service Assistant, building maintenance, and administrative staff
  • plan menus according to budget and nutritional requirements
  • maintain consistent job performance despite operational challenges
