Job Description
Holden Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center is a reputable healthcare facility dedicated to providing exceptional rehabilitation and skilled nursing services. As a part of the Dining Services Team, the full-time Chef position on the 10:30am to 7:00pm shift holds a pivotal role in upholding the center's commitment to providing an exceptional dining experience. This role demands both culinary skill and supervisory capabilities, as it involves preparing nutritional meals tailored to residents' needs, managing kitchen operations, and working collaboratively with other staff members such as Food Service Supervisors and Dietitians. The Chef must exhibit attention to detail, excellent judgment in meal preparation and seasoning, and the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The position offers a competitive pay range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
The role requires overseeing all facets of food preparation, ensuring meals are both palatable and visually appealing, and meeting therapeutic dietary requirements according to individualized care plans. The Chef is also responsible for supervising dietary aides, maintaining food service equipment, and adhering to infection control and safety procedures. Communication skills and teamwork are essential, as the Chef coordinates with various departments to ensure meal schedules and nutritional standards are consistently met.

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read speak and write English at a 10th grade level
- Ability to supervise and work cooperatively with others
- Initiative and judgment in setting up meals seasoning food and estimating food requirements
- Ability to maintain assigned work hours and has sufficient endurance to perform tasks over a long period of time
- Must have the ability to perform essential functions without posing a direct threat to residents or other staff
Job Qualifications
- At least one year of institutional cooking experience
- Serve Safe Certification a plus
Job Duties
- Prepares all food according to the menu in a safe sanitary manner
- Ensures proper preparation portioning and serving of food according to standardized recipes
- Prepares therapeutic diets in accordance with a specific care plan
- Works closely with Food Service Supervisor and Dietitian on menu preparation and meeting the nutritional needs of the residents
- Responsible for meeting designated meal schedules
- Creates meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
- Supervises and directs dietary Aides in the operation of the Kitchen and Dining areas
- Responsible for the care of food service equipment and reporting malfunctioning equipment to maintenance
- Attends mandatory In-Service as required
- Observes infection control procedures and maintains appropriate safety standards
- A report to work as scheduled and demonstrates dependability
- Works cooperatively with Food Service Staff and other departments
- Ability to use computer i.e. Meal Tracker
- Put away supplies food order in absence of the FSD
