The current opportunity is for a full-time, non-management position within the Food and Beverage & Culinary department at the JW Marriott Tucson Starr Pass Resort & Spa. This role offers an engaging work environment where culinary associates can enhance their skills through innovative training partnerships, such as with the Rouxbe Culinary School, which provides robust online culinary education programs. This position primarily involves preparing special meals, managing food quality, and ensuring compliance with safety and presentation standards. Responsibilities include proper handling of food temperatures, thawing frozen items, maintaining food portion accuracy, and logging inventory to ensure freshness and optimal usage. The role demands hands-on engagement in kitchen tasks, from cooking to presentation, with a continuous focus on maintaining the highest standards for food quality and guest satisfaction.

Additionally, this position supports operational efficiency by communicating daily specials and any issues with food products to necessary team members, ensuring smooth service delivery. Job Requirements

  • Technical, trade, or vocational school diploma

Job Duties

  • Prepare special meals or replace products
  • regulate oven, grill, and rotisserie temperatures
  • thaw frozen food appropriately in refrigerators
  • ensure correct food portions, distribution, and garnishing
  • maintain food records and inventory
  • monitor quality and quantity of prepared food
  • communicate assistance needs during peak periods
  • inform the chef of excess food for daily specials
  • notify Food and Beverage staff of rejected products and specials
  • ensure food product quality
  • prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation checklists
  • prepare cold dishes
  • assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, advising, disciplining, motivating, and training employees
  • comply with all safety and company policies and procedures
  • report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions
  • conduct safety trainings and acquire safety certifications
  • maintain professional appearance and confidentiality
