Job Description

Big Grove Brewery is a vibrant and award-winning craft brewery taproom renowned for its dynamic environment and exceptional beer offerings. We are a community-focused establishment that prides itself on combining the love of craft beer with outstanding culinary experiences. Our brand is built on a foundation of core values including setting the tone, a thirst for improvement, caring deeply, practicing candor, and being passion-driven. These values are the heart of our culture, guiding how we operate and the type of team members we seek to join our family. With a dedication to local ingredients, culinary innovation, and creating memorable moments for our guests, Big Grove Brewery is more than a brewery – it’s a destination for those who appreciate great food paired perfectly with quality craft beers.

We are seeking a Chef de Cuisine to lead and inspire our culinary team within this fast-paced brewery taproom. This full-time position offers an exciting leadership role with varied hours, including evenings and weekends, typically requiring 40-45 hours per week, with potential for additional hours during special events. The Chef de Cuisine will be instrumental in driving the culinary vision that complements our award-winning beers, crafting innovative menus that highlight local ingredients and current food trends. The role demands operational leadership with accountability for financial performance in the Back of House, including menu costing, inventory control, and labor scheduling. The successful candidate will foster a collaborative kitchen environment focused on excellence, team development, and adherence to food safety standards.

In this role, the Chef de Cuisine will create raving fans through extraordinary culinary experiences that elevate the Big Grove brand. Responsibilities encompass menu planning and development, ensuring pricing strategies support profitability while delivering exceptional value. You will partner closely with the Culinary Director, Executive Chef, and Store Director to analyze and optimize menu performance. Managing inventory levels, controlling costs, reducing waste, and maintaining accurate records are key to sustaining efficient operations. The position also involves mentoring and coaching the Back of House staff, embedding a culture of continuous improvement, and implementing professional development initiatives.

Safety and sanitation are vital components of daily operations, requiring rigorous enforcement of food safety regulations and kitchen cleanliness. The Chef de Cuisine will manage all staff scheduling to align with labor cost goals while making sure pre- and post-shift tasks prepare the kitchen to operate seamlessly. As a leader, you will use performance management tools aligned with Big Grove’s values to support employee growth and accountability throughout the employment cycle.

This opportunity is ideal for a culinary professional with advanced kitchen math skills, detailed organization, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels. You will thrive in a team-focused, positive atmosphere where safety is paramount. Physically, this role demands stamina for prolonged standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in hot and cold environments. If you are passionate about leading a high-performing team, innovating menus for a busy brewery setting, and embodying the Big Grove culture, we invite you to apply and join our growing family.
