Job Description

The organization plays a vital role in addressing the needs of homeless and vulnerable populations by providing not just sustenance but also hope and empowerment through a wide range of supportive programs. This nonprofit is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all who seek their help, ensuring dignity and respect are at the forefront of every interaction. With a strong community focus and a mission-driven approach, they work tirelessly to alleviate hardship and promote stability and self-sufficiency among their clients.

The role of Chef/Café Program Coordinator is integral to the success of the community dinner program, which operates four nights a week to serve nutritious, large-volume meals to those in need. This position combines culinary expertise with program coordination responsibilities, providing both leadership in meal preparation and oversight of kitchen operations. The Chef/Café Program Coordinator will be responsible for menu planning, ensuring that meals are not only healthy and balanced but also accommodating a diverse range of dietary needs. Volunteer coordination is a critical component of the position, as the Chef/Café Program Coordinator will lead and guide volunteers during meal preparation and service, optimizing teamwork and efficiency within a fast-paced kitchen environment. The ability to foster a respectful, welcoming atmosphere is essential to support both volunteers and guests, reinforcing the nonprofit’s values of kindness and community spirit. Budget management is another crucial responsibility, requiring the coordinator to operate within established financial guidelines while ensuring quality and quantity of meals meet program goals. This part-time opportunity offers approximately 32 hours per week, primarily on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, with some flexibility for special events and holiday meal services. Compensation ranges from $18 to $22 per hour, commensurate with experience, making it a meaningful role for those passionate about culinary arts and community service.
