Job Description

Provision Living was established in 2005 with a clear mission to empower its team members to grow, prosper, and create exceptional environments for elders and their families. With a dedicated workforce of over 600 individuals, Provision Living prides itself on fostering a culture that is built on love, inspiration, and fulfillment. As a senior living company based in St. Louis, Provision Living operates 18 senior living communities across Missouri, Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Ohio, serving nearly 1,000 older adults. This extensive network of communities provides a range of care options tailored to meet the needs of seniors, including assisted living, memory care, and independent living.

Provision Living emphasizes its commitment not only to its residents but also to its associates, striving to maximize the potential and quality of life for every individual touched by its services. The company’s focus on creating exceptional places means maintaining a supportive and respectful environment while delivering top-tier services in all aspects of senior living.

The role of Cook at Provision Living is critical to the success of the Dining Services department and involves preparing and serving meals that enhance the dining experience for residents. As an essential member of the team reporting directly to the Dining Manager, the Cook is responsible for producing meals that are appealing, nutritious, heart-healthy, tasteful, and fresh. Food preparation is not only about taste but also about meeting the dietary needs of an older adult population, which often requires special attention to nutritional and health concerns.

In this role, the Cook also ensures the sanitation and cleanliness of all food service areas in compliance with all regulatory standards. Accurate record-keeping regarding food inventory, receiving, and rotation of products is an important part of the position to maintain food safety and operational efficiency. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of food safety regulations, as well as the ability to follow company policies and state licensing requirements to ensure compliance.

Given the critical nature of food service in a senior living setting, the ideal candidate will have prior dining experience in healthcare, hospitality, or senior care community environments, with proven leadership and organizational skills. The position demands a dedication to providing high-quality customer service and fostering a warm dining atmosphere. Beyond culinary skills, the Cook must be knowledgeable of federal, state, and facility regulations concerning sanitation and infection control, and be capable of working effectively with diverse residents and associates within the community.

The position requires a mix of technical culinary expertise and interpersonal skills, focusing on customer service, hospitality, curiosity, and friendliness. This ensures not only the preparation of excellent meals but also creates a positive and welcoming dining experience for residents and guests. In summary, the Cook position at Provision Living offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults by contributing to their daily enjoyment and well-being through exceptional food service.
