As a respected leader in the retirement community sector, ERS prioritizes an award-winning culture that values its employees and emphasizes a balance of professional growth, reasoned workload ratios, and employee well-being.
The Chef and Production Manager role at Episcopal Retirement Services is a critical leadership position within the Dining Services Department. Reporting directly to the Director of Dining Services, this individual is entrusted with overseeing the entire operation of dining services, ensuring that residents receive a superior dining experience characterized by quality, taste, and nutritional value. This role is not only about culinary excellence but also management and supervision of a diverse team including chefs, cooks, and other dining service personnel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for menu planning, inventory control, food quality assurance, and compliance with safety and sanitation standards while fostering a supportive and efficient work environment.
The position demands someone with a blend of culinary expertise, supervisory experience, and a commitment to serving an elderly population with dignity and respect. The Chef and Production Manager will actively assist in developing, organizing, and implementing dining programs that align with ERS’s standards and resident needs. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to residents' quality of life by delivering fine dining experiences that respect dietary requirements while also maintaining operational excellence in a retirement community setting. The candidate will lead efforts in maintaining high levels of safety, sanitation, inventory management, and team performance, thus playing a pivotal role in the dining department's success.
Emphasizing an inclusive and values-driven workplace, ERS offers a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, a generous paid time off policy, short- and long-term disability coverage, and 403B retirement plans. Additional perks such as discounted meals, tuition reimbursement, and an employee referral program further demonstrate ERS's investment in its workforce. The organization fosters career advancement through internal promotions and employs innovative payroll options like PayActiv and benefits like Tickets at Work to support employee lifestyle and financial needs.
This position is ideal for a culinary professional who not only possesses significant kitchen proficiency but also exhibits strong leadership skills and the ability to navigate the unique challenges within a senior living community. The Chef and Production Manager must demonstrate flexibility, integrity, and effective communication skills to work harmoniously with team members, residents, families, volunteers, and regulatory bodies. They must be attentive to the physical demands of the role and committed to personal vaccination requirements ensuring safety in the workplace.
