The role of Chef/Line Cook aboard Amtrak dining cars is an essential part of delivering an exceptional travel experience to passengers. This position is focused on preparing and serving a variety of full-course meals in a dynamic onboard kitchen environment, demanding attention to detail, culinary skills, and a commitment to food safety and sanitation. The Chef/Line Cook is responsible for preparing meals freshly and efficiently, adhering to FDA sanitation standards, and ensuring that all culinary items meet the high-quality standards expected by Amtrak’s customers. Washing utensils, pots, pans, and maintaining overall sanitary conditions in the workspace are critical daily functions. The role demands excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This hourly position offers a competitive wage starting at $21.00 with opportunities for increases in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Candidates joining as Chef/Line Cooks will be part of a diverse workforce dedicated to safety, accountability, and effective communication. Amtrak also emphasizes diversity and inclusion, welcoming individuals from various backgrounds and perspectives to enrich the workplace and contribute to the company’s success.
