Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate personal meal preparer to provide weekly in-home cooking assistance for an elderly client. This position involves grocery shopping, meal preparation, and cooking nutritious meals tailored to the dietary preferences and needs of an elderly individual. The goal is to create simple, healthy, and easy-to-reheat meals that promote well-being and convenience for our client, while also encouraging some involvement in meal preparation to maintain engagement and independence.
Our client is a grandmother who prefers mostly vegetarian meals but occasionally includes meat in her diet. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of nutrition, particularly in relation to senior health, and be skilled in preparing balanced meals that meet these preferences. The role requires compassion, patience, and flexibility, as the focus is not only on cooking but also on enhancing the quality of life by supporting healthy eating habits and simplifying meal routines.
This position is part-time and typically requires one day per week of service, involving grocery shopping, meal prepping, and cooking within the client's home. The role includes setting up several nutritious meals that the client can easily heat throughout the week, as well as preparing vegetables by washing and chopping to facilitate the client's participation in cooking part of a recipe. This approach empowers the client to stay active in the kitchen while ensuring convenience and nutritional value.
Candidates should be familiar with vegetarian cooking and comfortable incorporating occasional meat dishes. Experience working with seniors or in-home care cooking is highly desirable, as is a good understanding of food safety standards and practices. The job demands excellent organizational skills to plan shopping trips and meal prep efficiently. It also calls for strong communication skills to coordinate with the client and adjust meals according to preferences and any dietary restrictions.
Joining our team as a personal meal preparer means making a meaningful impact on an individual’s daily life by supporting their health and independence through well-prepared meals. We value reliability, kindness, and a genuine interest in helping seniors enjoy nutritious food with ease. If you are passionate about cooking and enjoy working in a home environment where your culinary skills can brighten someone's week, this could be a rewarding opportunity for you.
