The role of the chef is critical in maintaining and enhancing our kitchen operations. As the chef, you will take full responsibility for every plate that leaves the kitchen and the overarching direction of the menu. This position requires a blend of creativity, leadership, and business acumen. You will be expected to innovate the menu continually, developing unique dishes that satisfy our customers while meeting profitability targets. Your responsibilities extend beyond cooking; you will be instrumental in hiring, managing, and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high levels of skill, consistency, and motivation. Maintaining a cooperative, respectful, and professional kitchen environment is key to your success. Additionally, you will oversee logistical aspects such as ordering ingredients, managing equipment, and coordinating kitchen repairs. Your expertise in interpreting P&L statements will be essential to effectively managing costs and budgets. Safety and sanitation are paramount in our kitchen, and as the chef, you will enforce all related standards to ensure a clean and safe workspace for the team.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous culinary training or degree preferred
  • minimum of 3 years experience in a professional kitchen
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • physical stamina to stand and work for extended periods

  • Proven experience as a chef or head cook
  • strong leadership and team management skills

Job Duties

  • Create menus
  • direct the food prep process
  • plan and order ingredients and necessary equipment
  • arrange for kitchen repairs when needed
  • use P&L statements to effectively manage costs and meet budgets
  • hire, manage, and train kitchen staff
  • oversee kitchen staff, looking for opportunities to counsel or coach
  • foster cooperation, collaboration and respect
  • have knowledge of and enforce all safety and sanitation requirements
