This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals who thrive in dynamic kitchen environments and are passionate about food preparation and presentation. The employer values a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and adherence to food safety standards, offering a competitive starting pay of $30 per hour. The role is temporary but offers a chance to work in a professional kitchen setting, gaining invaluable experience and showcasing culinary skills.
The Cook will play a crucial role in preparing daily menu items with a focus on quality, appeal, presentation, cleanliness, safety, and cost control. Responsibilities include preparing a variety of foods such as soups, sauces, casseroles, stir-fry dishes, meats, cold foods, and vegetables, following standardized recipes and portion sizes. Additionally, this position requires maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly kitchen environment, including proper handling of kitchen equipment and adherence to sanitation guidelines. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility in work hours, particularly availability between 12pm and 9pm daily, including weekends, with shifts lasting a maximum of 8 hours. This availability is strongly preferred to meet the client’s needs effectively.
This role also involves supporting kitchen operations beyond food preparation. The Cook will assist in training kitchen personnel, contributing to a collaborative and efficient kitchen team. Duties include maintaining storage areas with proper techniques such as FIFO (First In, First Out) for food supplies, enforcing energy conservation practices, and participating in the cleanup and preparation for special functions. The position demands physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods and the ability to lift and carry heavy items occasionally. Knowledge of New Jersey State Health Department regulations, food and supply systems, and experience with batch cooking and portion control are essential for success. Candidates are encouraged to apply promptly for immediate consideration, offering a rewarding chance to contribute to a well-established kitchen team in Princeton, NJ.
