Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and creative personal chef to provide weekly meal preparation services for a family of five located in the Glenmont/Silver Spring, MD area. This opportunity is perfect for a culinary professional experienced in planning, cooking, and packaging nutritious, delicious meals in a home kitchen environment. Our family values healthy eating and diverse culinary styles, preferring a balanced approach that can include Mediterranean, Asian-inspired, vegetarian, or other flavorful cuisines depending on seasonal ingredients and dietary needs. The role is part-time, approximately four hours each week, and offers an hourly rate of $30-$40, commensurate with experience. The start date is set for mid-September 2024.
As the personal chef, you will have the responsibility of designing weekly menus tailored to our preferences and dietary restrictions, shopping for groceries (optional), and preparing meals that can be easily reheated throughout the week. Your skills in batch cooking and food safety are essential to ensure consistent meal quality and adherence to health standards. The role also includes thorough kitchen cleanup to maintain a hygienic space. We appreciate creativity and the ability to adjust recipes based on seasonal availability and family feedback, making this a dynamic culinary engagement. Working in our home kitchen, your ability to manage time effectively and work independently while respecting our household environment will be critical. You will label meals with contents and dates to help us easily manage our weekly meal plans. Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience as a personal chef or in a similar meal prep role
- familiarity with home kitchen equipment and techniques
- ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- reliable transportation to Glenmont/Silver Spring area
- availability for weekly weekday shifts
- ability to handle grocery shopping if required
Job Qualifications
