Job Requirements
- Previous cooking and commercial kitchen experience required
- must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds
- knowledge in food industry procedures and sanitation codes related to buffet services
- ability to cook large and small quantities
- possess understanding of hospitality related to food services
- solid Christian ethic and ability to work with diverse cultural, educational, and religious backgrounds
- ServSafe certified or ability to fulfill certification within 90 days
- ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days
- willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- must be a Christian holding to the beliefs in the Statement of Faith expressed by personal testimony and conduct

Job Duties
- Plans and executes daily menu in coordination with other chefs and food services leadership
- organizes and monitors buffet style meal service
- oversees preparation of meals by preparing a food prep list for kitchen help including volunteers and program participants
- creates a professional, respectful, and teamwork driven kitchen environment
- records number of meals served using the Mission’s database and reports discrepancies
- trains program participants in food handling, preparation, and hygiene
- supervises program participants assigned to kitchen work readiness tasks
- cooperates with Volunteer Services to mobilize and engage volunteers
- prepares task lists and oversees volunteer activities during shifts
- provides welcome and orientation for volunteers
- thanks, debriefs, and dismisses volunteers at shift end
- maintains and rotates food storage, ensuring organization and cleanliness
- records and weighs donated food items accurately
- sends excess food donations to warehouse daily per health standards
- serves food at designated buffet times only
- follows personal hygiene, food handling, cleaning, and sanitizing protocols
- maintains food safety policies, procedures, and logs
- discards unusable or unwholesome items immediately
- keeps cleaning schedules updated
- wears standard uniform including chef coat, long pants, and non-slip shoes
- participates in staff meetings and activities
- follows staff practices on sickness, reports, and supervision
- engages in continuous improvement projects using Agile and Lean methodologies
- displays characteristics of being humble, hungry, and smart
- willing to engage in culture improvement projects
