Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a dietary manager or associate degree with culinary certification
- Experience in managing kitchen or dietary department preferred
- Knowledge of food safety sanitation and dietary regulations
- Ability to lead and train staff
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Ability to work in a healthcare environment with residents
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food preparation and safety
Job Qualifications
- Certified dietary manager or associate degree and/or certification in culinary arts
- Effective communication skills with dietitian diet tech and other facility disciplines to ensure teamwork and quality patient care
Job Duties
- Oversees the entire dietary operation including orientation training and supervision of dietary staff
- Performs ongoing training and provides staff evaluations
- Assists in direct operations as needed
- Ensures all staff properly use and clean dietary equipment and cares for all dietary equipment
- Maintains an effective in-service program to ensure employee proficiency and compliance with food service standards
- Conducts meal rounds and supervises meal delivery to residents while addressing their food preferences and suggestions
- Supervises all work areas including preparation production stock rooms and dish room ensuring safety and sanitation standards are maintained
- Assists in purchasing high-quality foods and verifies receipt from vendors
- Oversees inventories and stock rotation to minimize waste
- Works with dietitian in menu planning and development
- Participates in QAPI and promotes performance improvement efforts
- Caters facility special events and collaborates with Activity Director for resident events
