This position is within a school district's food service program, specifically focused on improving the school nutrition environment across all district schools. Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in culinary arts, restaurant management, or related field
  • four years of vocational education or experience in culinary arts or an equivalent combination of related education and experience totaling eight years
  • ServSafe certification required or must be obtained within six months of hire
  • HACCP certification preferred
  • proof of education, training, and/or experience is required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in culinary arts, restaurant management, or a related field
  • four years of vocational education or experience in culinary arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling eight years
  • ServSafe certification required
  • HACCP certification preferred
  • strong knowledge of USDA school nutrition programs
  • experience with recipe development and standardized recipe creation
  • ability to conduct training and produce training materials
  • familiarity with nutrition management software
  • excellent communication and community outreach skills

Job Duties

  • Creates and facilitates recipes and production training for cafeteria staff
  • identifies new food products and recipes for school and special meal service programs
  • develops and tests new recipes meeting federal, state, and local guidelines
  • develops standardized recipes that comply with USDA requirements for various school nutrition programs
  • remains current on new food trends appealing to students and incorporates these into food selections
  • creates and develops training videos and conducts on-site and virtual training sessions
  • develops and maintains commodity food and KPIs usage
  • participates in nutrition education programs, health fairs, PTA meetings, and community events to market the meal program
  • provides standard operating procedures for HACCP protocol for all recipes
  • performs other related duties as assigned
