Job Requirements

  • five plus years managerial experience in a high-volume restaurant
  • experience with back of house administrative and managerial duties
  • knowledge of techniques, methods, tools, and equipment for cooking high-quality food on a large scale
  • proven ability in teaching and mentoring kitchen employees
  • exceptional communication and supervisory skills
  • food handler's certification required
  • proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
  • interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • willing to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • able to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
  • experience with cost and labor management software a plus

Job Duties

  • execute and develop company standard operating procedures
  • manage and systemize all food production
  • oversee inventory and purchasing
  • meet food and labor cost goals
  • handle ordering of food, paper, and cleaning supplies
  • recruit and hire BOH team members
  • develop talent and succession planning
  • manage daily performance of BOH staff
  • collaborate with human resources on hiring, firing, training, and scheduling
  • establish labor budgets with corporate leadership
  • approve facility repair and maintenance expenditures
  • analyze sales data and food costs for profitability
  • oversee kitchen during prep and service
  • address guest concerns related to kitchen and food
  • ensure safety and sanitation protocols
  • maintain department of health compliance
  • ensure manager certifications are current
  • manage kitchen and facility safety and operations
  • innovate recipes and menus
  • develop sous chefs in leadership and skills
  • identify and promote talent within BOH staff
