Job Requirements
- Must possess education to read, comprehend, and follow recipes and procedures
- high school diploma or equivalent
- culinary training preferred
- appropriate health certification as required by health authorities
- must be able to work independently and manage priorities
- physical ability to lift 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
- ability to stand for long periods and ambulate between kitchen and dining areas
- ability to follow instructions and maintain sanitary standards
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- culinary training preferred
- appropriate health certification as required by local, state, and federal health departments
- knowledge of menu planning for geriatric residents
- excellent cooking and baking skills
- knowledge of restricted diets such as diabetic, low fat, salt free, and liquid diets
- interpersonal skills to communicate with residents and staff
- ability to work independently and prioritize workload
- knowledge of MSDS sheets and safety guidelines
- demonstrates compassion and a servant heart philosophy
Job Duties
- Prepares meals according to established recipes and menus
- assists Culinary Services Director in creating menus that meet residents' nutritional needs and food preferences
- presents meals in an appealing and professional manner
- sets up kitchen and prepares for daily and next day menus
- cleans dishes, floors, walls, and kitchen equipment maintaining sanitary guidelines
- maintains organized, clean, and safe storeroom, coolers, and kitchen
- assists in planning and cooking special meals
- maintains proper temperatures of steam table, dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer
- maintains confidentiality of residents' personal information and protects residents' rights
- maintains professional appearance and positive customer service environment
- ensures adequate daily coverage for meal service and assists with dining room maintenance during mealtimes
- performs other duties as assigned or required
