Job Description
Walmart Supercenter #1518 located in Indianapolis, IN, is part of the world-renowned Walmart retail chain known for providing customers with a broad assortment of merchandise at everyday low prices. Walmart operates as a retail giant, offering groceries, general merchandise, and various services to its customers. The store prides itself on its customer-centric approach, delivering efficient and friendly service through its diverse team of associates. As part of a company dedicated to innovation, community support, and environmental responsibility, Walmart offers its employees opportunities for growth, competitive compensation, and benefits that support their well-being.
This role is for a Front End Checkout Associate, a crucial position within the store's operations. Front End Checkout Associates are the face of Walmart in the customer experience journey. They manage cash registers by accurately scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts while ensuring every customer feels welcomed and appreciated by greeting and thanking them with a positive attitude. This job requires standing for extended periods and the physical stamina to maintain energy and attentiveness throughout a shift. The associate is expected to support customers by answering questions, guiding them to merchandise, and ensuring the checkout process is smooth and efficient. The position supports part-time employment, with available shifts mainly during mid-shift and closing hours.
Compensation ranges from $15 to $28 per hour, depending on the location and experience, supplemented with annual or quarterly performance incentives to reward employee contributions. Additionally, employees may earn premiums ranging from $0.35 to $3.00 per hour based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums can apply simultaneously if criteria are met, enhancing overall pay.
Working as a part-time associate at Walmart offers a variety of benefits that focus on the health, financial security, and personal growth of employees. These benefits include medical, vision, and dental plans that cover essential healthcare needs. Financial benefits include 401(k) retirement plans, company-paid life insurance, and stock purchase opportunities that facilitate employee investment in the company's future. Time-off benefits are inclusive and consider family and personal needs, with paid parental leave, family care leave, bereavement, jury duty, and voting leave.
Moreover, employees receive Paid Time Off (PTO) and or Personal Paid Time Off (PPTO), which can be utilized for vacations, illnesses, holidays, or other personal reasons, and will meet or surpass any local paid sick leave requirements. Walmart also supports education through the Live Better U program, offering tuition, books, and fee coverage for courses from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English language learning and short-form certificates. This educational benefit includes part-time associates and represents Walmart’s investment in the professional growth and future success of its workforce.
Walmart is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace, supporting a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all employees. This role represents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking part-time work in a fast-paced retail setting where customer service and teamwork are valued, and where the company supports its associates with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits.
