The Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA) is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for, supporting, and advancing the interests of the hospitality and tourism industries in Virginia. The role of Chapter & Events Manager at VRLTA is a full-time position based in the Richmond office. This role is essential to the vitality and engagement of VRLTA’s membership base and broader community. The Chapter & Events Manager is responsible for supporting and managing a variety of events that help cultivate meaningful connections among members and non-members alike. This position requires careful coordination and oversight of the organization’s eight VRLTA Chapters’ events and Chapter Board meetings, in addition to larger statewide events, such as the Fall & Winter Membership meetings, Ordinary Awards reception, Legislative events, VPSI Conference, and Governors Tourism Conference. The manager will collaborate closely with senior leadership, including the Vice President of Membership & Business Development and the Director of Marketing & Communications, ensuring that event promotion, registration, and execution processes are seamless and aligned with strategic goals.
This position blends hands-on event management with strategic planning and member engagement. The successful candidate will maintain event registration accuracy, ensure timely communication with attendees and sponsors, and provide detailed registration and invoicing reports. They will also play a vital support role during key legislative and educational initiatives, assisting different departments with conferences, fundraising events, and advocacy activities. A key aspect of the job is managing virtual Chapter Board meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and communication, facilitating each chapter’s smooth operation and engagement.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Events, or related field is a plus
- Minimum 1+ years’ event experience
- Experience with associations/nonprofits a plus
- On-site in Richmond Office

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Plan, promote, and execute the Fall & Winter Membership meetings and regional events as directed by the team
- Plan, promote, and execute the Ordinary Awards reception and dinner event as directed by the team
- Plan, promote, and execute all Chapter events for the Association alongside the Vice President Membership & Business Development & Director of Marketing & Communications
- Create all events in GrowthZone and partner with the Vice President Membership & Business Development & Director of Marketing & Communications on the marketing schedule for each event
- Manage all event registrations in GrowthZone while ensuring accuracy and timely communication with our members and prospects
- Track and report on all event registrations & invoicing to ensure timely payment is received for all events and event sponsorships
- Provide weekly event registration report to VRLTA Staff to ensure engagement & attendee goals are met & any event liability is addressed in a timely manner
