Job Requirements
- Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME with six years experience
- or graduate from electrical technical school or military equivalent with nine years experience
- or high school education with ten years experience
- valid driver’s license
- able to pass drug test and background check
- strong physical ability including medium to heavy lifting
- frequent standing, kneeling, climbing and driving
- ability to work in extreme cold and heat
- capable of using protective equipment
- effective communication skills
- willingness to work flexible hours and travel up to 50% internationally
Job Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code and industry standards such as OSHA and NFPA
- specialized skills in power quality surveys, co-generation start-up, ANSI, NEC, NEMA, U.L. specifications
- experience with pilot wire and distance relaying
- expertise in computer power system transient surveys, vector and phasor analogy
- proficiency with UPS and drive systems
- experience in medium and high voltage substation start-up
- strong background in switchgear and equipment testing to 500-kV class
- thorough understanding of electrical apparatus testing and power systems theory
- excellent communication, supervisory and organizational skills
- strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and internet research
- demonstrated ability to present technical content
- availability for flexible hours and extensive travel
Job Duties
- Supervise, train and assist field service engineers and technicians
- perform complex troubleshooting and specialized tests on electrical systems
- lead large projects including generator acceptance tests and substation commissioning
- develop new testing and inspection techniques
- estimate jobs, prepare proposals, schedule fieldwork, and manage billing
- write detailed project reports
- perform equipment-labeling analyses aligning with industry standards
- engage actively in client interface and business development
